Pinch me because I’ve died and gone to dessert heaven. As soon as I stepped into Extraordinary Desserts, I was whisked away to a never-before-seen world where all you can hear is “Oooh” and “Ahhh” from guests. My friend and I walked back and forth from display case to display case of sweet, fanciful treats trying to decide which would be “the one”. Then we spent another 20 minutes or so waiting on a table. On a summer day in San Diego with many tourists in the area, you can definitely expect to wait awhile for a table.
I had decided on a strawberry pastry while my friend indulged (with my help) in a strawberry-filled cake that was shaped like a small mountain and surrounded by a delectable swirly cream concoction. They looked too good to eat with the flower petals and gold topping. I’ve never said this before about any dessert before, but they were truly works of art.
In addition to these luxurious sweets, Extraordinary Desserts offers a variety of teas, ice cream, cakes, pies, wine, and other culinary delights. At the Little Italy location where we were at, they also serve a European breakfast and bar snacks.
Who says that a dessert can’t be a spiritual experience? After visiting Extraordinary Desserts, I felt truly uplifted and felt that connection with a Higher Power. The whole ambience of the place leaves you feeling blissful! Add this to your To Visit list if you’re ever in San Diego…
